Development objections that work

The last couple of days I’ve been coordinating with others battling mass housing proposals nationwide.

Those who have been successful at planning and appeal have objected on sustainability and design grounds.

Here are some objects that have worked:

Design - the housing to be incorporated is of cheap quality; the housing is too tightly packed; the housing invades the privacy of existing residences; the estate design will lead to stagnant traffic; schools are too close to take-aways; schools are too close to petrol stations; the estate has no traffic calming measures; the estate is too large; there are too few access routes; the estate doesn’t fulfil garden city principles; the development scale will have a negative economic effect; the access time for emergency access is dramatically reduced.

Sustainability: public transport doesn’t support the route; the estate is too distant from supermarkets to be sustainable; the traffic will be increased significantly - endangering life; there are insufficient school places; there are insufficient medical services.
