Residents Meeting Sunday

There will be a residents' meeting this Sunday 1400 at the White House in Marske. To discuss how we approach Thursday's planning meeting. The South of Marske development is up for discussion and has been marked as for approval.

The officer's decision is a mistake.

Previously I posted 48 policy and legal grounds to reject. Financially the development moves the obligations of the West Midland Pension Fund onto the residents of Marske.

At least £2,000,000 is required to alter access into Marske - to residents' detriment. A further substantial sum of money is required for health and school services - none of which appears in the s.106 calculations (if they have even been calculated).

The situation is a dreadful reminder of the state of the s.106 accounts when I was last elected in 2011. Money sat in an account that is poorly monitored. I never got to the bottom of the missing funds last time around.

The s.106 is being highlighted for education, health, transport - you name it - for the South of Marske development. However, the education s.106 isn't determined, the health contribution is only £55,000 and the railway contribution is only £2,000.

Indeed Network Rail has objected to the plan, as the site layout endangers the Saltburn line.

It's clear to see what will happen with South of Marske. The development will saddle the council and local taxpayer with debt for a housing estate no fully informed local person wanted. Meanwhile the housebuilders will stick their faces in the trough and make a mint from substandard overpriced housing. People will move into the new houses at an inflated price and pretend to live in Marske while simultaneously avoiding driving into Marske as crossing the railway line or going under the bridge will become so difficult.
